Arabian Horsemens Distress Fund Outreach Programs
The Arabian Horsemens Distress Fund had a truly successful outreach program at this year's Nationals in Tulsa. The programs launched with the community gave Tulsa children a unique and wonderful opportunity to experience the Arabian horse and the exhilerating competitive environment. The children touched everyone's hearts with their smiles and pure joy to be around the horses who also seemed to know the kindness being exchanged at each event. The wonderful photo collages below, by Holly Azevedo, present
the innumerable memories and special moments which will stay with us forever.
National Champion 2013
Justine Ameye and Radio (HHF Radioactive) were truly an elegant pair in their
2013 National Champion ride this year in Tulsa. What a wonderful experience to see
them recognized for the true talent and devotion they bring to the ring.
Not only is Radio a Special Embassador for the Arabian breed, but he has had a long
and illustrious career which is continuing in style with the most recent triumph.
If you have been lucky enough to see this pair you will immediately feel the strength
of the partnership and teamwork. They seem to work together seamlessly.
Congratulations on a terrific ride and here is to many more!

Horse Tales Literacy Project
Justine Ameye created this great video celebrating our Region 15 in Lexington, VA this year. Horse Tales Literacy Project
Trowbridge's Ltd. Arabian horse farm in Bridgewater partnered this spring with the elementary schools in Region 12 to provide the Horse Tales Literacy Project for the first time in Connecticut. HTLP is a non-profit organization based on the "Black Stallion" books by Walter Farley and seeks to promote literacy through inspiring children to read by connecting them with a classic book and the magic of live horses. The first grade classes from the region's three schools visited the farm twice. On their first visit, the students were given a tour of the facility, watched demonstrations, and were given a copy of their first book, "Little Black, A Pony." During their second visit to Trowbridge's, the students were given the opportunity to read to a horse. Above, first graders from the Burnham School in Bridgewater passed around horse brushes while watching a grooming demonstration by Clara D'Amico (lower left) as part of their first visit.

Kathy D'Auria and her elegant Half Arab mare Kreme Dela Krewe returned to top their 2008 Reserve Championship in the HA Country Pleasure AOTR with a Unanimous National Championship win in the HA Country Pleasure 55 and over class this year, turning in a flawless ride to bring home the roses, and Lindsey and Kreme also won a top ten in the Half Arabian Open Country Pleasure the next evening. Congratulations to Ken, Kathy and Kreme for putting in such a flawless ride, and for their dedication to their horses and loyalty to us all over the years. Thanks, Ken and Kathy, and congrats!! No one deserves it more!
